John Castle has established himself as the most in-demand young producer/writer and mixing engineer to emerge from the Australian music scene for some time. For years John has built a cult-like appreciation of his work, all developed in his own 'Shed Studios' in Melbourne.
John is a multi ARIA Award nominated Producer who lists a number of Multi-Platinum, award winning albums and singles on his impressive resume, from Megan Washington’s breakthrough, ‘I Believe You Liar’, to his internationally recognised work on Vance Joy’s ‘Riptide’, which John co-produced and mixed. ‘Riptide’ was Castle’s first US Top 30 Billboard chart (and #1 on Billboard’s Alternative Chart) and a Top 10 UK hit and has sold more than 6 million singles world-wide.
Regardless of the genre, the common thread in Castle’s work is his ability to guide each artist into a new sonic space. His production is adventurous and ambitious and his mixing is identifiable by its freshness and pop sensibility. Castle has produced, written and arranged with artists as diverse as Megan Washington and Vance Joy, Gossling, 360, The Bamboos, Thelma Plum, Adam Martin, Josh Pyke, Bertie Blackman and Kate Miller-Heidke. His projects run the full gamut of styles from indie, folk, pop, rock, soul and hip-hop and John’s work has one of the highest strike rates on Australian radio.
Something that positions Castle outside of the usual suspects is his ear for innovative parts and arrangements.
